Hello lovely followers/blog readers! Today I was inducted into the AmeriCorps NCCC program with 300 other corps members in a theater with the national director as well. Super legit I know. Yesterday we were told that we might be deploying to the east coast because of Sandy but fortunately we are still going to Lakeside, CA, for our spike as planned!! We got the cargo van and our 15 passenger van packed for our 10-12 hour trip down south. I don't think I have ever packed so hard for a trip... like it was extreme packing. My room is almost completely empty. We get to wake up super early tomorrow morning in order to leave so we will have 10 cheery passengers in our van!:) We went to Trader Joe's and it was not like the Trader Joe's in Minneapolis. I am all stocked up on food for the ride there and I will definitely be going to bed at a decent hour tonight. So a lot of you want to see some pictures of me from the program so here's my proposition for y'all. Go on Facebook and like this page!!

Also I do enjoy letters and care packages(cookies, candy, coloring books, pictures, etc.) and I will write back! Hope y'all are having a fantastic year and I'll try to stay on top of updating the blog but I am not quite sure if I will have the resources to do that and to those who live in Minnesota, I will see you in December!:)
Much love from Cali!:)

Sorry it's been like a month!!!
Hey readers!
So I know it's been a long time since I have wrote a blog post and well there has been a lot going on in my life right now and well I guess you all want to know about what's going on in my life. So here goes nothing. I have been training for the past month and we only have like 5 days until we leave on our first project. Our first project is in the lovely city of Lakeside,CA, which is 20 miles out of San Diego and we will be working with three organizations: Lakeside's River Park Conservancy, Blue Sky Ranch and Silverwood Sanctuary. We will be camping for 4 weeks at Blue Sky Ranch, which is a community that focuses on environmental and sustainable practices. We will be learning about composting, using our resources wisely, and many other practical things that will change the future of the world. I am extremely excited for our first project. I have never been camping before so this will be an interesting experience but there is a shower and electricity so I have two things that I need in order to live my life. :) We have to use all eco-friendly products including shampoo, toothpaste, and other toileteries because they do not want any toxins seeping into the beautiful San Diego River, which we will be helping restore. The Silverwood Sanctuary is part of the Audubon of San Diego. We will be doing fire prevention things such as brushing, taking out easy flammable targets and doing fuel reduction as well. I learned how to chainsaw yesterday and I now know how to cut down a tree. Tomorrow is my second day of field training and I get to do the big stuff. So here's some pictures of my time here!:)
